143 Allen Street, Lower East Side, 1929
The world-renowned “Mayer the Buyer” had a fantastic collection on 143 Allen St in the Lower East Side, which was at the heart of the antiques district from the 1940s to the 1960s. He carried anything encompassed by the word antique, from Viennese bronzes to porcelain to German paintings.
Nathan having an inquisitive young mind, he would train and apprentice alongside his parents in their busy shop. He would handle, polish, buy and sell as a young teenager.
Deal, NJ, 1985
At the age of 22, he opened his own shop in Deal, NJ. After establishing a successful shop there, he decided to take a leap and go into the big leagues of buying and selling in New York City.
Midtown Manhattan
He opened a gallery at the Manhattan Art and Antiques Center.
